Luxurious igloo

Close your eyes and imagine it. You’re surrounded by ice. By the whiteness of snow, tinged with a thousand shades of blue. The light of the sun, the hush of true silence and the softness of candlelight.

Every year, we build two or three igloos just a short distance from Bella Vista Mountain Refuge, and transform them into cozy rooms. You’re surrounded by ice, but won’t suffer from cold feet.  Sheepskin covers the double bed, providing perfect insulation; on top are expedition sleeping bags with an inner lining made of soft linen, which is changed regularly just like a bed sheet.

Outside the igloo are the Finnish sauna and hot tub. Everything is ready to welcome you.

Your Igloo Overnight in Detail

After a brief telephone check-in, you’ll make your way from Maso Corto to Bella Vista Mountain Refuge.

Detailed information about getting to the refuge.

Introduction by your Igloo Guide

Once at the refuge, we’ll offer you a hot welcome drink and you can take in your first impressions of the surrounding mountains in peace. In a subsequent tour of the lodge we’ll show you around the igloo and give you a comprehensive introduction. Your Igloo Guide will also teach you how to use expedition sleeping bags properly and familiarize you with using our outdoor sauna and hot tub.

Evening at the refuge

At 7:00 p.m., we’ll serve a four-course dinner inside Bella Vista. As soon as you’d like to enter your igloo for the night, please contact your Igloo Guide. We will prepare your expedition sleeping bags immediately before you enter and escort you to your igloo. There, a bottle of Bella Vista Franciacorta awaits, and we’ll wish you a good night.

The doors of the refuge are open at night, of course, and the toilets are also accessible.

The morning after your igloo overnight

In the morning we wake you up around 7:30 a.m. with a good morning tea – even earlier upon request, if you’d like to watch dawn breaking over the surrounding mountain peaks. Our breakfast buffet is available starting at 7:30 a.m. Winter sports enthusiasts may already be long on their way at this point in order to take advantage of the rare opportunity of enjoying the 7.5-km-long run into the valley along freshly groomed slopes – before the ski lifts start functioning. Those who want to linger at the refuge and enjoy the sunshine for a bit are welcome to do so in one of the lounge chairs on the terrace.
